Lazaro CONSTAR-SF – 50 lb. Concrete Skim Coat
Lazaro CONSTAR-SF (Skim Coat) delivers exceptional structural performance through its polymer-modified composition, engineered for superior flexural and compressive strength. The specialized additive blend enhances workability and adhesion, producing a denser, more refined finish compared to standard skim coat applications. Ideal for professional wall patching and resurfacing projects.
Basic Uses
For patching holes or repairing areas up to 25mm deep in concrete or masonry surfaces. It is good to use for patching tie holes, feathering, rendering, plastering, and Plycap floors.
Features
- Allows for foot traffic within 24 to 48 hours.
- Ultra strong
- For interior or exterior use
- Polymer additive provides uniformity.
- Improved stain resistance
- Smooth, tight surface for easier maintenance
Limitations
Use only on concrete surfaces which are maintained at a temperature above 5°C (41°F) during application and for at least 72 hours after being applied. Do not apply in single applications over 25mm thickness, as cracking and shrinkage may occur. For thicker repairs, use two or more applications to reach desired thickness.
Composition and Materials
A polymer modified factory blend of Portland cement, select sand aggregates, and special chemical additives packaged in dry powder form to be mixed with water just prior to use.
Preparatory Work
All surfaces must be dry and free of grease, oil, dirt, paint, and other foreign matter. Surfaces must be sound, free of frost, and must be maintained at a temperature above 5°C (41°F) during application, as well as 72 hours after being applied. Steel reinforcing must be free from rust.
Mixing
Mix Constar Wall Patch by adding powder to cool, clean water. Place the powder in a clean bucket then add water while stirring to form a paste consistency that is reasonably stiff, yet easy to trowel. The exact proportions are not critical. When thoroughly mixed, let stand in the bucket for 5 to 10 minutes, then re-stir. This mortar now has a bucket life (pot life) of approximately two hours.
Application
The adhesion of the mortar to the substrate is improved by first applying Constar Acrylic Bonding Agent primer to the concrete. Spray or brush the primer on the concrete and allow it to penetrate into the concrete for 10-15 minutes before applying the mortar on top. The acrylic bonding agent primer can be allowed to dry, but adhesion is best if the acrylic is still tacky. Apply and smooth out the mortar with a standard masonry trowel to desired thickness.
